Sun Home vs Sunlighten

The short version: on the heat and the build, the published material does not separate these two much — both make indoor infrared cabins in eucalyptus, and both warrant cabinet and heaters for seven years on their core lines. Where they differ is disclosure. Sun Home publishes EMF measurements with stated distances and a method; the Sunlighten pages we read describe low EMF without a figure. Sunlighten, for its part, offers individually controlled near, mid and far infrared in its mPulse, which no Sun Home cabin is described as doing.

What each publishes

The EMF difference, read carefully

An EMF claim is only comparable when it comes with a number, a distance and a method — our what low EMF means page explains why the distance is the whole question. Sun Home publishes all three, from Vitatech Electromagnetics (report VTE-3534), measured as an RMS magnetic field with a fluxgate magnetometer and the element under load. It publishes them for its heating technology rather than per model, which is a limit worth knowing.

The Sunlighten pages we read describe its SoloCarbon heaters as delivering infrared "with ultra-low EMF" and the Signature as low EMF, without a figure or a distance. That does not mean Sunlighten's cabins are high EMF. It means a buyer cannot compare the two on this axis from those pages. If EMF matters to you, it is the first question to put to Sunlighten: what is the reading, at what distance, and measured how?

Spectrum: what Sunlighten does differently

Sunlighten describes its mPulse as the only infrared sauna with individually controlled near, mid and far infrared, across four wavelengths, run from an app and an in-sauna tablet. We cannot verify the "only", but the feature itself is distinctive. Sun Home's full-spectrum Equinox lets you set each heater from 0 to 100 percent and its Eclipse adds red light, but neither is described as controlling the bands separately. Neither brand's pages publish near-infrared irradiance at a stated distance — the figure that would tell you what a full-spectrum claim actually delivers. Warranty: read the conditions, not just the years

• Sun Home publishes seven years on the Solstice and Equinox. It also says moisture and pest damage fall outside coverage, and it specifies a standard breaker on a dedicated circuit.
• Sunlighten publishes seven years on cabinetry and heaters, three on controls and one on glass doors and audio, for residential use. Labor and technician costs are not covered. Its warranty page lists what voids cover — including exposure to water, not plugging directly into the required dedicated outlet, placing the sauna within five feet of a water source, and outdoor use without a cover.

The five-foot water clause is worth reading twice if you were planning a bathroom install.

Which to choose

• Sun Home, if published EMF and cabin-air testing are what you want to buy on, or you want a cabin that runs on a dedicated 120 V, 20 A circuit.
• Sunlighten, if separately controlled near, mid and far infrared is the feature you care about — and ask for an EMF reading with a distance before you commit.

Alternatives you can buy today

Neither brand sells through Amazon. The picks below publish more than most of the Amazon field: three publish an EMF figure, though none publishes a measurement distance, and one is full spectrum with red light. They are not Sun Home or Sunlighten products.
