A one-person sauna outdoors has two jobs a small indoor cabin does not: keep the weather out, and run on whatever supply you can get to the garden. The roof and the circuit decide it.
Most one-person saunas are indoor cabins, and several turn up in outdoor searches. We only considered ones sold for outdoor use, and looked first at what keeps the weather out — a shingled roof, a waterproof layer, an aluminum shell — and then at the circuit, because a one-person outdoor sauna is often chosen precisely because a big 240 V run is not practical.

Infrared or traditional, in one-person size
Three picks are infrared cabins, which run on a smaller circuit and top out at 140–149 °F by their listings. The fourth is a small traditional barrel with an electric sauna heater, which needs 220 V. If you want steam from a heater, it is the barrel; if you want to stay on an ordinary outlet, it is the Albott. Our infrared vs traditional page covers the difference.
The circuit decides more than the size
The Albott states 110 V at 15 A — the only pick here that confirms a standard household supply. The OUTEXER does not state its voltage or circuit at all, so ask before you order. The Duthss infrared cabin and the barrel both need 220 V. Outdoors, any of them means a run from the house with the protection an outdoor circuit needs; our outdoor sauna electrical guide covers it.
Weather protection
- A roof that sheds water. The Albott and the Duthss barrel use asphalt shingles, and the Albott adds a waterproof layer beneath them.
- A shell. The Duthss infrared cabin puts black aluminum over a hemlock interior, which keeps the wood out of the weather.

- A level base. Even a small cabin needs a flat, drained pad; our foundation guide covers the options.
Cold weather
A small outdoor cabin loses heat through its walls in winter, and one listing says as much: Albott notes that preheating takes longer in winter. If your winters are hard, a one-person outdoor infrared cabin will be at its weakest when you most want it; our cold climate page is honest about that trade.

An indoor one-person cabin listed in outdoor results. Our search turned up a Canadian hemlock one-person cabin whose own listing describes it as an indoor sauna, with glass on both sides and no roof covering described. Outdoors, it would be an indoor cabin in the rain.
