Who we are
Stove & Snow is an independent publisher covering home saunas and cold plunges. Contact: info@stoveandsnow.com. We have no premises open to the public.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which links they use. This collects standard web analytics data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as clicking a buy button. It is used in aggregate to decide what to write next.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. You can block them with your browser settings, an extension, or Google's own opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
The contact form
If you send us a message we receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you typed. That is used to reply to you and for nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list — we do not run one — and it is not shared with anyone.
The form also records the time the page loaded and includes a hidden field, both purely to detect automated submissions. Your IP address is used to rate-limit submissions and is not stored beyond that purpose.
Affiliate links
When you click a buy button you pass through a redirect on our own domain that adds our Amazon Associates tag, then continue to the retailer. We do not track you at the retailer — we cannot see what you look at or buy. Amazon and other retailers set their own cookies and operate under their own privacy policies, which are theirs rather than ours.
We record the click as an analytics event so we can see which recommendations people find useful. That event contains the page and the product, not anything identifying you.
What we do not collect
- No accounts. There is no login, no registration, no profile.
- No mailing list. We do not run a newsletter and do not collect email addresses for one.
- No advertising networks. No display ads, no retargeting pixels, no ad-tech beyond the analytics named above.
- No payment data. We sell nothing and never see a payment.
- No sale of data. We do not sell, rent or trade anything about you, to anyone, ever.
Cookies
| Source | Purpose | Can you block it? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Aggregate usage measurement | Yes — browser settings, an extension, or Google's opt-out add-on |
| Retailer sites, after you click a buy link | Their own affiliate attribution | Yes — their cookie settings, or your browser |
| Stove & Snow itself | None. We set no cookies of our own | N/A |
This site sets no first-party cookies. Blocking everything above leaves the site fully functional.
How long we keep things
Contact form messages are kept in the mailbox they are delivered to for as long as they are useful for correspondence and correction records. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is a contact form message you sent us. Email info@stoveandsnow.com and we will deal with it.
For analytics data, Google is the processor and its controls — including the opt-out add-on linked above — are the effective route.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Note separately that saunas and cold water immersion carry real risks and are not suitable for unsupervised use by children.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — usage measurement.
- Amazon — when you follow an affiliate link, subject to Amazon's own privacy policy.
- Our hosting provider — serves the pages and keeps standard server logs.
- Microsoft Graph — delivers contact form messages to our mailbox.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described rather than quietly amended, which is the same standard we apply to corrections on editorial pages.
