What you actually give up below $3,000

Heat output is largely unaffected. What the money buys higher up the range is spectrum, build quality, finish, published data and warranty — not fundamentally more heat.

That is a genuinely important point for an upgrader. If your current cabin's problem is that it is too small or the wrong shape, this band solves it. If the problem is that it is far infrared and you want full spectrum, this band cannot solve it and you should save rather than settle.

The traditional option nobody considers

Worth naming plainly: at the top of this band, a small traditional cedar cabin with a 6 kW Harvia heater becomes reachable. That is real heat at 175–195 °F, real steam, and a heater brand with a published spec sheet and a parts supply — against a far-infrared cabin at 120–150 °F.

The catch is the circuit. Traditional means 240 V, and if that is a project you cannot take on, the comparison ends there. Running costs are the hidden half of the budget

A cheaper cabin that draws more power costs you money on every session for as long as you own it. At 2,240 W, three 45-minute sessions a week is roughly 5 kWh — under a dollar a week at typical rates. Infrared is genuinely cheap to run, and the difference between cabins in this band is small enough that it should not drive the decision. The larger cost is the electrical install, which is a one-off and is not part of the sticker price. Price it before you choose the cabin.

What can you get in an infrared sauna under $3,000?
A two- or three-person far-infrared cabin, usually in hemlock, drawing around 1,500–2,240 W on a dedicated 20 A circuit. Heat output is broadly comparable to more expensive far-infrared cabins. What you give up is full-spectrum output, published specifications, wood grade and interior room.
Why do you not show prices?

Is a cheap infrared sauna worth it?

Should I spend more on a sauna or on the electrical work?
