Sun Home Equinox vs Solstice

The short version: the Equinox is Sun Home's full-spectrum cabin — far-infrared panels plus two full-spectrum heaters, to a published 165 °F. The Solstice is its far-infrared cabin — more far-infrared panels, to 140 °F — and it comes in more sizes. At two and three people the two lines share a footprint, a circuit, a wood and a warranty, so the choice really does come down to the heaters.

What "full spectrum" means here

Sun Home describes the Equinox's heating as supplying near, mid and far infrared, from four or five far-infrared heaters plus two full-spectrum panels, with each heater adjustable from 0 to 100 percent. The Solstice is far infrared only: eight to ten wall-mounted panels depending on size, with no floor unit. The 25 degrees

The Equinox's published maximum is 165 °F against the Solstice's 140 °F. That is the most concrete difference between them. If you already own a far-infrared cabin and find it never quite feels hot enough, that gap is the upgrade. If 140 °F suits you, it is not a reason to change. Both are well below a traditional sauna's 175–195 °F; if that is what you are after, Sun Home's traditional rooms are a different conversation — the Nova indoors and the Solaris outdoors.

What is the same

• The footprint. At two and three people both lines are 45.9 inches deep and 77.7 inches tall, and the widths match exactly — 50.9 and 62.3 inches. Sun Home publishes the Equinox benches as 45 inches (two-person) and 57 inches (three-person).
• The circuit. A dedicated 120 V, 20 A circuit on a NEMA 5-20 outlet for every Equinox and for the one- to three-person Solstice. Sun Home specifies a standard breaker and says GFCI and AFCI breakers trip during normal operation — raise that with your electrician before you settle on a room.
• The warranty. Seven years on both lines.
• The EMF testing. Sun Home publishes Vitatech testing of its heating technology at stated distances: 0.6–4.0 mG at 1 foot, 0.4–1.8 mG at 2 feet and 0.3–0.9 mG at 3 feet. It is published for the brand rather than per model, so it does not separate the two.
• The setting. Indoors only, with 4 inches of clearance at the sides and 12 inches above.

Which to choose

• The Equinox, if you want the higher published heat and near- and mid-infrared emitters in the cabin, and two or three people is the right size.
• The Solstice, if far infrared suits you, you need one person or four, or you would rather put the difference toward a standalone red light panel whose distance you control.

Alternatives you can buy today

Neither cabin sells through Amazon. The picks below are in the same two classes — full spectrum and far infrared — and are not Sun Home products. None publishes EMF testing at stated distances; two publish an EMF figure without one. Note that the full-spectrum Duthss needs a 220 V circuit, where the Equinox runs on 120 V.
