Harvia heaters compared

The short version: every Harvia electric heater of the same kW covers the same room. A 6 kW KIP and a 6 kW Wall are both rated for 177 to 283 cubic feet, and choosing between them is about stone mass, mounting and controls rather than heat. The families split three ways: wall heaters with built-in dials (KIP, The Wall, Vega), wall or floor heaters that need a separate control unit (Spirit, Virta), and pillar heaters that hold three to four times the stone (Cilindro). Harvia publishes rated volume, stone capacity, dimensions and safety distances per SKU. It does not publish a warranty length or a heat-up time anywhere we could read.

The rated-volume ladder

The families, and what actually separates them

Stone mass is the decision most people make by accident. A 44-pound wall heater and a 176-pound Cilindro at similar outputs heat the same room, but the pillar holds far more energy in the stones, so it recovers faster between throws of water and gives a softer, rounder löyly instead of a thin hiss. That is the real difference between a heater that makes a room hot and one that makes a sauna. Controls: built in, separate, or Wi-Fi

• Built-in dials (KIP B models, The Wall, Vega) are the cheapest route and mean nothing else to wire. The KIP80B publishes an 8-hour delayed start and a 60-minute auto shutoff on the heater itself.
• A separate control unit (Spirit, Virta, KIP W and E models) puts the panel outside the hot room, which is better for the electronics and required on larger installs.
• Xenio, including Wi-Fi versions, adds scheduling, remote start and app control through MyHarvia, handles up to 17 kW and extends to 34 kW with a power unit. Harvia notes that remote start needs a door sensor or equivalent safety device.
• US voltage matters: Harvia sells 240 V single-phase and 208 V three-phase SKUs alongside its European 230/400 V ones. Match the SKU to your supply, not the model name.

Safety distances are published, and they are not optional

Harvia gives clearances per SKU, and they vary more than you would expect. A KIP60 lists 1.18 inches at the front, 1.97 at the sides and 3.61 feet to the ceiling; a KIP80B on US voltage lists 4.92 inches front and sides and 7.01 inches to the floor, with a minimum assembly height of 6.56 feet. The Cilindro PC70 wants 3.94 inches all round and 37.4 inches to the ceiling. Picking one for a typical room

Take a 5 × 7-foot room with a 7-foot ceiling: 245 cubic feet. That is inside the 6 kW band (177–283) and at the bottom of the 6.8 kW Cilindro band (212–353). If the room is well insulated and indoors, the 6 kW wall heater is the cheaper install — a smaller circuit, a bracket on the wall, no floor space lost. If it is a garage or an outdoor building, or if it has a large glass door, step up: the same room with a glass front behaves like a bigger one. And if löyly quality is the priority rather than speed, the Cilindro's 176 pounds of stone will give a rounder steam than 44 pounds ever will, at the cost of a longer warm-up and a column in the room.

What Harvia does not publish

• A warranty length on any HTML page we could read — the terms live in a PDF, and the support article returned an access error.
• Heat-up times, anywhere. The marketing says fast; no figure is given.
• Rated room volume for a few SKUs, including The Wall SW80 on its US page and the Virta Combi.
• Stone capacity or tank volume for the Virta Combi.

What you can actually buy on Amazon

Harvia's Amazon presence is largely third-party retailers — ALEKO, Baltic Leisure, Finlandia — rather than a Harvia storefront, so listings come and go and model naming is inconsistent. KIP and The Wall are the two families reliably listed; Cilindro appears in several outputs; Vega, Forte and the Legend wood heaters did not surface at all when we looked. Check the listing's stated kW against the table above before you buy, and confirm whether stones and a control unit are included, because some bundles include both and some include neither.
