With that said: the interesting thing about sauna blankets is how little separates the tiers on paper. The two things that genuinely differ

Size, and whether it is published properly

This is the difference that decides satisfaction, and it is entirely checkable before you buy. The category standard is around 71 × 35 inches. The blankets in this survey range from 71 to 78 inches long, and if you are over about six feet, four inches of length is the difference between your shoulders being inside the blanket and not.

One blanket here publishes both its folded working size and its fully unfolded size, which is exactly the information a taller buyer needs and almost nobody supplies. Treat that as a signal about the seller as much as the product.

How well it seals

The second real difference is the closure. A full-length zipper seals the envelope; a partial zip or a fold-over flap vents heat at the shoulders, which is exactly where you feel it. A blanket that seals properly reaches temperature faster and holds it, and that is worth more than two extra temperature settings on a controller.

Everything else — nine settings versus five, app control, dual zones — ranges from mildly useful to genuinely nice, and none of it changes whether the blanket works.

The "zero EMF" problem

Two blankets in this survey are marketed as zero EMF and none publish a figure. It is worth being clear about why that phrase cannot mean what it appears to.

Any device carrying alternating current produces a magnetic field. A blanket with heating elements running through it, drawing current from a wall socket, cannot produce zero. What manufacturers mean is that the elements are wound to cancel opposing fields, which genuinely does reduce the field substantially — and that is a real engineering practice worth having. What it is not is zero, and a number with a stated measurement distance would let you compare products instead of comparing adjectives.

The feature is real and it addresses a genuine annoyance: lying in a blanket, your back is against a heated surface while your front has a heated surface draped over it, and the two rarely feel equal. Separate zones fix that, and no other blanket here offers it. But it is spot clean only, which is the most restrictive care instruction in this survey, and it puts an app between you and what is fundamentally a temperature dial.
