A sauna speaker is a battery in a hot room. The ones made for saunas handle steam and splashes. Not one we found publishes the temperature it can take — so where you put it matters more than which you buy.
Music in the sauna is common and entirely reasonable. The complication is that almost every portable speaker contains a lithium battery, and a traditional sauna's upper air is far hotter than any consumer battery is designed to sit in for long. Sauna-specific speakers are made to cope with steam, splashes and heat — but none of the listings we surveyed publishes a maximum operating temperature.

Where to put a speaker
- Low. Heat rises; the floor and lower bench are far cooler than the upper bench and ceiling.
- Away from the heater. Never on or beside it.
- Out of the room between sessions, and charged outside it.
- In an infrared cabin, with more latitude — infrared cabins run far cooler, typically up to around 140–150 °F.
- Or outside the door. A speaker just outside a glass door is often loud enough, and it avoids the problem entirely.
What to look for
- 1Designed for saunas. A speaker made for the environment, rather than a general waterproof speaker.
- 2A water-resistance rating. IPX6 and IPX7 cover steam and splashes from the ladle.
- 3Battery life, so it lasts a session or several without charging.
- 4A published maximum temperature — which none of these has; if a seller can give you one, that is a point in its favor.
- 5Built-in Bluetooth in your cabin, which many infrared cabins already include.
